1.   Cast on 50 (58) 66 stitches and start with the back from the reverse: 1st row: 1 plain stitch – 1 purl – 2 plain stitches * 2 purl – 2 plain stitches * Repeat from * to * and finish the row with 1 purl – 1 right stitch. 2nd row: 2 plain stitches * 2 purl – 2 plain stitches * Repeat from * to *

2.   Continue like this until the knitted piece measures 15 (20) 25cm.

3.   Cast off at the beginning of the next 2 rows 6 (6) 8 stitches and continue with PEARL KNITTING (1 plain stitch – 1 purl staggered) until this section measures 6 (8) 10cm. Now cast off the middle 20 (22) 24 stitches and knit each half separately.

4.   Continue with the 9 (12) 13 stiches for each of the shoulder straps. Knit the shoulder straps separately. When the strap measures 4 (5) 6cm, cast on 10 (11) 12 new stitches on the neck side and continue with PEARL KNITTING until this knitted section measures 4 (5) 6cm (after the new stitches were cast on).

5.   Now knit the other shoulder strap in the same way as above, but reversed; cast on 6 (6) 8 stitches at the end of the next 2 rows. Now knit the ribbed section the same length as the back and cast off with ribbed knitting. Secure all ends.

6.   Sew the side seams together from the right side with mattress stitches.
